Hand Door Stopper

Role: ID process

• Reddot concept design award • Spark concept design award

When people use an ordinary door stopper, they have to bend over and slide it under the edge of the door. Because people usually use their feet, it could be dirty and inconvenient to use, especially for wheelchair users. In addition, a typical doorstopper is dangerous in case of emergency. I designed a product that is easier to use by more people.

CONCEPT

The design solution is to use your hand instead of your feet. This “Hand Door Stopper” is operated by the hand on the handle. I combine the door handle with the door stopper.

The handle will normally be an easy pull at a 70-degree pull. To extend the stopper you will be required to use a harder pull at a further 45-degree angle to extend the door stopper down from the door and fixing the door in place.
